Water Fitness Classes
Classes are designed for both men and women. You do not need to know how to swim to take the class. Our instructors are trained and certified through the Aquatic Exercise Association (AEA) the leader in Aquatic Fitness. Classes are great for weight management, improving flexibility, muscle toning and strengthening.
To attend classes, simply purchase a coupon book or pay a drop-in fee. Classes are ongoing and there is no expiration date on the coupons. The first class is free so that you can decide what class is best for you. The minimum age for the class is 12 years or older. Children, ages 12-15 years old must be accompanied by an adult in the water (18 or older) and they are able to follow instructions without disruption. Water fitness classes are normally held at the Rakow Center Indoor Pool (665 Barrington Ave., Carpentersville, IL) but notices will be posted if class location changes. Active Aging
This class is for core strengthening, balance, and cardio conditioning. This is the class between Beginner Flexibility & Toning and Water Cardio & Toning.
Tuesday & Thursday: 10:00-11:00am
Ai Chi
This gentle water exercise is designed to strengthen and tone the body while promoting relaxation, flexibility, increasing metabolism and establishing body-mind connection.
Wednesday & Sunday: 11:00am-Noon
Water Cardio & Toning
This low impact class focuses on cardiovascular conditioning and includes toning and stretching.
Monday-Friday: 9:00-10:00am
Saturday: 8:00-9:00am
Water Interval Training
This class goes through a series of high & low intensity segments. Muscle toning and stretching are also included.
Tuesday & Thursday: 7:00-8:00pm
Beginner Flexibility & Toning
This class is great for post-surgery rehabilitation, orthopedic/neurological conditions, i.e.; Scoliosis, Fibromyalgia, Arthritis, and TIA. Basic movements will be taught.
Monday/Wednesday/Friday: 10:00-11:00am
Hip-Hop Aqua
Join us for an interval-based dance workout in the water. This combo class of intervals and great music will have time flying by as you burn fat and have a blast. This is an intermediate level class which will be modified for all.
Monday: 7:00-8:00pm
