Group Exercise Classes
About
We offer a variety of exercise classes which are held at the Rakow Center. All group exercise classes are free for Fitness Center Members and are available for men and women ages 14 years and older. For more information, call the Group Exercise Coordinator at 847-428-7131. Classes are held in the East/West Dundee Room unless otherwise noted. Group exercise class times include set-up and tear-down of equipment. Classes are not held when the Fitness Center is closed.
Group Exercise Passes
If you are not a Fitness Center member and would like to attend Group Exercise Classes, you can customize your workout program through our group exercise passes! These passes are good for all land exercise classes, so you can mix and match workouts to fit your needs.

Exercise Class Descriptions
50/50
Every class will begin with a different 1/2 hour of cardiovascular training and finish with a 1/2 hour of body specific strength exercises.
Body Sculpt
This multi-level class is for anyone who wants to develop muscular strength and endurance. This workout is easy to follow and challenges every major muscle using a variety of equipment.
Boot Camp Blitz
Whether you want to build strength, expand your aerobic capacity, or just lose that extra weight, this high energy workout will improve your fitness level and athletic performance. Working on endurance, strength, speed, agility and power, this dynamic class will keep all fitness levels challenged and motivated.
Boot Camp Conditioning
This workout takes you to another level. If you are looking to lose weight and firm up, this is the class for you. Our Boot Camp drill sergeant will work your cardio, plus make sure your muscles get a good workout. Come and challenge yourself to get fit.
Cardio Challenge
A cardiovascular class without all of the fancy steps. Join us for a heart-pumping workout.
Cardio/Strength
This class is great for all levels of fitness. First half of the class will be a cardio workout, kickboxing, step or circuit. The second half will incorporate strength training with weights, bands and balls. This is a high energy, basic moves class.
Gentle Flow Yoga
End your day with this Yoga class which will relax you for the evening hours. This class incorporates forward bends and deep breathing to take your body and mind down from a long, stressful day.
Get Started
Feel comfortable exercising with beginners who need help starting and sticking to an exercise program. If your goal is to become more active, lose weight or develop a healthy lifestyle, then join us for a fun workout that will keep you coming back for more.
Hot Flow Yoga
This is truly an awakening class for the body and mind. You will leave this class with energy to make it through the day.
Les Mills BODYPUMP
BODYPUMP is the original barbell class that strengthens your entire body. This 60-minute workout challenges all your major muscle groups by using the best weight-room exercises like squats, presses, lifts and curls.
Pilates
Pilates is a mind/body relationship that focuses on breathing and the powerhouse muscles (abdominals and low back). All individuals are welcome to join this class. Will be using Pilates rings. Please bring a mat to class.
Power Hour
Strengthen and shape your body with the use of weights, tubing and Resist-a-Balls. A challenging workout for all levels of fitness.
Spin
Highly motivational, good music, and an incredible workout! This indoor cycling program is for participants of all fitness and skill levels. Control your own intensity while being challenged with overall body conditioning. Improve your heart and lungs - enjoy the ride!
Spin & Abs
45 minutes of Sping followed by 15 minutes of stretching and abs work.
Step
Improve your cardio fitness level with this fun and challenging class. Creative but easy to follow choreography will be used to keep you going. Some prior Step experience is helpful but not necessary.Turbo Kick
Turbo Kick is a combination of intense kickboxing moves, as well as dance moves, all perfectly choreographed to high energy and motivating music. It’s the ultimate cardiovascular challenge. Turbo Kick requires no previous kickboxing experience or equipment.Yoga Body & Mind
De-stress & recharge your body through Yoga postures combined with traditional strengthening and stretching exercises. Build strength, increase flexibility and postural alignment and improve balance. The class concludes with a guided relaxation/meditation segment. Please bring a mat to class.
Zumba
Zumba is a style of intense aerobic dance workout with pulsating Latin music. This is a high energy, low impact class. Ditch the workout and join the party!
Zumba Gold
Zumba tailored to the active older participant, as well as those just starting their journey to a fit and healthy lifestyle. What stays the same are all the elements the Zumba Fitness-Party is know for: the zesty Latin music, easy-to-follow moves; and the invigorating party-like atmosphere.
