Dundee Township Park District Executive Director Dave Peterson Announces Retirement

After a distinguished 36-year career in the parks and recreation field, including more than 19 years of dedicated service to Dundee Township, Executive Director Dave Peterson announced his retirement. He will assist with the transition to a new executive director over the coming months.

Dave’s connection to the District is deeply rooted. Having grown up in the community, he began his career working at the District’s swimming pools during high school and college. Following graduation, he joined the finance department, where he worked for six years before returning in 2014 as Deputy Director. He later advanced to Executive Director, where he provided steady leadership, strategic vision, and a strong commitment to community service.

Throughout his tenure, Dave remained actively engaged in the community, serving as a liaison for nine years with organizations including the Boys and Girls Club of the Northwest Suburbs and the Northern Illinois Special Recreation Association (NISRA). Reflecting on his career, Dave shared, “It has been an honor to serve in the park and recreation field for my entire career and to serve the Dundee Township community I grew up in.”

Dave’s leadership has left a lasting impact on the District, its staff, and the broader Dundee Township community. He will be deeply missed by colleagues and residents alike.
