Athletics - Youth

The Dundee Township Park District offers a variety of sports for youth ages 2-17 years old. Our sports programs are ideal for beginners and those with advanced skills. Our individual and team sports focus on building skills and sportsmanship in a positive environment. Activities are available for preschoolers, grade schoolers, and middle schoolers, and are great for building athletic and social skills to last a lifetime.

Youth Basketball League

Winter Youth League | Boys & Girls | Grades 1-8

The Dundee Township Park District is partnered with the Huntley and Hampshire Park Districts to offer one of our most popular winter programs in the winter.

Each team will have a volunteer coach. Parents that are interested in coaching, please contact Shane at (847) 428-7131 x2206 or svarvil@dtpd.org.

Fun and skill development will be emphasized. Times, dates, and locations will be provided for the entire season before the first scheduled game.

Uniform   

T-Shirts will be given to 1st-2nd grade and reversible jersey given
to grades 3rd-8th for game days.

Practice

Each team will practice at least once a week. Practice days, times, and locations will vary based on grade level and which team your child is placed on. Practices will start the week of December 2 for all leagues.

Games

Game days are primarily on Saturdays. Games will start January 11. Some Sunday and weeknight games may be scheduled if needed. Teams may play away games against other surrounding towns.
This will be determined based on the number of teams in each league. Times, dates, and locations will be provided for the entire season before the first scheduled game.
Teams     Teams for grades 1-4 will be formed by the Athletic Supervisor. Grades 1-4 are the only levels we accept friend requests. Friend requests will be reviewed but are not guaranteed due to the growing size of our program. Evaluations will be held for all players in grades 5-8 followed by a player draft to form teams.
Evaluations

Players are not required to attend evaluations but it is recommended. All evaluations are held at the Randall Oaks Recreation Center:

The Harry Smart Memorial Youth Basketball Scholarship
The late Harry Smart loved the game of basketball, and Harry enthusiastically supported Dundee Township Park District's efforts to provide a program for youngsters. Harry's family established a scholarship in his name, the funds used to assist youths who might not be able to afford to participate in our basketball league. Should you wish to enroll your son or daughter in youth basketball and utilize scholarship funds, please include a letter along with your registration form letting the Park District know your need.

Youth Soccer League

Fall Youth League | Boys & Girls | Grades 1-8

Whether your child is a first-time player or has played in our leagues before, kids in our soccer league will learn skills, stay active, and make friends, all while having fun on the soccer field.

Uniform:     

Shin guards are mandatory (not provided), soccer shoes are optional but recommended. Jersey and socks included in the fee.
Teams:      Team placements are solely at the discretion of the Dundee Township Park District. There is NO guarantee that your friendship request will be fulfilled. The friend must also request you back. Due to the size of the program, we are unable to honor special requests. You are able to play up a level if you choose. If you choose to play up a level, you will need to register in person at one of our recreation centers.
Weekly Practice: Practices are held on weeknights beginning the week of Aug. 14 (tentative). Coaches will contact players prior to the first week of practice
Games: September 7-October 26 - Saturdays* - Varies 9:00 am-3:00 pm

Youth Flag Football (7 on 7)

Fall Youth League | Boys & Girls | Grades 1-8
The DTPD Flag Football League is partnered with Huntley and Hampshire Park Districts. This program provides an introduction to football and is great for boys and girls who choose not to play tackle football. We utilizes many of the guidelines set up by the NFL Flag Football League while implementing some of our own to better fit the needs of our community. The program's emphasis is on football's basic skills, including passing, pass catching, defending
and running. Players will also learn about competition and sportsmanship.

Volunteer coaches are needed for this program. If interested or have questions regarding coaching, please contact Shane at (847) 428-7131 x2206 or svarvil@dtpd.org.

Uniform:     

Each player will receive a team jersey. Flags will be provided to the
players before each practice and game.
Weekly Practice: Practices will weeknights begin the third week in Aug. (tentative).
Players will be contacted by a coach one week prior to their first
practice.
Games: Saturdays, September 7-October 26 - Varies 9:00 am-1:00 pm at Randall Oaks as well as other competing park districts.

Youth Volleyball League: Grades 5-8

Spike your way into an exciting season with our Youth Volleyball League! Whether you're new to the game or a seasoned player, this league is the perfect opportunity to improve your skills, make new friends, and experience the thrill of competition. Join us for an exciting season of volleyball!

League Details:

  • Practices: Teams will practice one night a week, either Monday or Friday, starting October 15.
  • Games: A 6-game schedule begins on October 26, with games held at both the Randall Oaks Recreation Center and Hampshire Park District.

Soccer/Basketball Combo - Sports R Us 47400

This program is perfect for little ones who are full of energy and parents who are looking for an introduction to soccer and basketball. Parents will be working with their children on developing socialization, teamwork, direction following, and key motor skills. Dribbling, shooting, and passing will be some of the skills that the children will learn. The first 3 weeks of class will focus on soccer, while the final 3 weeks will focus on basketball. Parent Participation is welcomed. Fun games will be played at the end of each class. Contractual.
