FREE $10 Gift Card Thankful for the Return of Programs and Offerings The Park Board of Commissioners and staff were very excited to provide you and your families with camps, swimming pool facilities, athletic programs, Concerts in the Parks, and much more this summer and fall. A significant increase in community usage of our parks, programs and facilities in 2021, with no capacity limits, was encouraging. Thank you for your patience and understanding as we continue to navigate this pandemic. Our team of recreation professionals deserves a great deal of praise as they continue to operate our programs and facilities, with safety being the number one priority. As we move from outside activities to the indoors, CDC guidelines will continue to be a strong resource for our staff and how we conduct our activities. Every user will continue to feel safe as they use all of our facilities! Grant Opportunities The Dundee Township Park District has a couple of exciting opportunities at our Zoo and in our parks. State funding for these projects is necessary and allows the Park District to manage its financial resources effectively. The Park Board of Commissioners has allowed staff to apply for a museum grant to provide a Randall Oaks Zoo addition on the south end of the current footprint. Community and zoo membership input was an essential part of this process. The addition would allow for year-round housing and even better care for our animal friends, and enhanced viewing experiences for our visitors. A second grant opportunity is a partnership with the Village of West Dundee and the development of a park (Fairhills Park) at the southwest corner of Route 31 and Boncosky Road. Recreational amenities included a playground, walking trail, fitness area, Baggo boards, picnic shelter, and interpretive signage. A successful grant would provide funding from the Illinois Department of Natural Resources and park impact fees. At the start of the new year, we will be informed if either project receives a grant and moves forward. Strategic Plan Update The strategic plan is transitioning from the short-term initiatives to the mid-term initiatives in 2022 and 2023. The Park Board and staff have accomplished goals that support the Park District’s strategic themes of Customer Focus, Financial Responsibility, Organizational Excellence, and Empowered and Prepared Team. You can learn more about our strategic planning on our website: www.dtpd.org. On behalf of the Park Board and staff, I wish you a Healthy and Happy New Year and hope you will come to visit one of our facilities and enroll in one of our programs. We have lots to offer and encourage you to find a good balance in life with recreation as a part of it. Thank you for choosing the Dundee Township Park District.
